Susan Campbell Woodin was the first female settler in the Woodinville area. In order to assist her husband, Ira Woodin (who Woodinville is named for) she churned and sold butter in Seattle. Her journey was quite something – she rowed to Madison Park and walked three miles to downtown Seattle. Woodinville’s first Post Office was in Susan and Ira’s home and Susan was the first postmistress of Woodinville. Woodin Creek, which flows through the park next to Campbell Run, is undergoing a salmon habitat restoration effort. The community’s name, Campbell Run honors Susan Campbell Woodin.
